I found a buddy with a 1999 4.6 out of an expedition. The motor is complete with a bad bottom end. I plan on doing a build on the engine so I am not worried about the bottom. My question is this a P.I. motor. He said it is a windsor and the oil fill neck is on the passengers side. the motor is complete oil pan to upper intake. I can get it for $100 so I don't want it to slip away if it is a P.I. setup.

From what I've read in other posts, is that the Windsor has the oil fill on the passenger side, and that the Romeo has it on the driver's side. Also the Windsor should have more valve cover bolts 13 on driver's side and 14 on passenger side, and the Romeo's have 11 on both sides.
Almost all motors '99>up were PI head motors if Windsors. The Romeo's seemed to have switched a little later (2000 or 2001).

So this would definitely be worth $100 bucks.

IMHO for $100 Yes. Worse case, if you tear it down you can probably make your $100 back and then some.

Can I swap the heads and all upper parts onto my non pi engine in my 97 gt? I could then build my block while still having a little more power with the head and intake swap. I know that the 99 expedition was rated at 220hp and the mustangs at 260. Is just the cams?

Correct me if wrong, but I think the HP rating had to do with the ECU tuning as well as the intake manifold. The expedition needs more torque then HP due to its weight, therefore the engine is tuned that way. I think the cams are the same but that's taking a guess.

So I will need a tune for best results. I have no idea where I can get a tune around here. I live in southwest Va. and there isnt much here. I can probably take it to Kingsport Tn. Any idea what a tune usually costs?
