ok guys, this was my first time at the track, i had the spare and jack still in the trunk, but other then that my trunk was empty, i didn't ice my intake, i didn't let any air out of my tires and for my first run i ran with my O/D on by accident. i ran a 15.3 @ 96. then on my next run i turned the O/D off and i held the brake down and reved it up at 1500rpms and i ran this
R/T - .781
60' - 2.201
330 - 6.106
1/8 - 9.306
MPH - 76.77
1000 - 12.077
1/4 - 14.422
MPH - 96.07

i think that was pretty good considering everyone here was saying that i would run a high 14, my 60' sucks, if i can get that to a 1.7-2.0, do u think i can get a 14.0-14.2? i didn't manually shift the car, but i am thnking of doin that next time. thanks, more advice welcome...thanks

Damn that is a good time. I was one of the one that probably said high 14s, low 15s. I have always had OD on when I have gone to the track I didn't know it made a difference. And I always get better times when I manually shift the car. Do you have a shift kit or a TC or anything on the tanny.

I was still wondering does anyone else have any coments on taking the OD off when you race. Does it really help that much?

OT: Joe did you get a new mustang?

Dustin
Blocking out the OD doesn't do anything except not let the car go into overdrive. It's more of a preventative thing.

Naw, no new cars here. Why?

Joe

5literstang can you post the rest of your 15.3 run. What else was different between the 2 runs?

Joe- you just had a different sig and one time I thought a heard you say you were going get a new mustang becasue you want to run a carb set up on it. Maybe you were just talking about you car you had now.

i can't find the slip form the 15.3 run lol...i'm goin to the track next wekk proly so i'll let u know what i run, my tires didn't chirp bad when i reved it at 1500 rpm's anyone know how to launch the automatic? is there a better way to do it?

if you shift Manually you might not get what you expect, I think Power braking which you did was probably the best you could do.

Since you have 3:55, I honestlly think Manual shifting is a bad idea (I have the same gears, and I don't feel like the car acelarates quicker with Manual shifting) BTW. I too have an automatic.

good times though.

I would try to launch at a higher RPM. 1500 isn't a good place to launch from. That explains your 60' time. Just hold the brake harder! If you can't keep the car from moving, then get some better brakes!!! :rlaugh:

:OT: i thought you car was stock at first. When I saw the 15.3, I was like, ok, pretty good for stock. Then I saw the MPH. I was SERIOUSLY confused! But your sig cleared things up for me.

i am goin to the track wednesday, but not sure if i'll have money, but i fnot i'm just goin to spectate, but if i do have money i am goin to run it, but overall i am very happy with a 14.4. my friend might let me borrow his DR's, and i will take my spare and jack out of the trunk, what do u think i should run with? also this week i am goin to go in a parking lot and practice launching.

I will say you will run a 14.1-14.2. It depends on how much tire spin you got on that 14.4 run. When you go practice launching post or pm me on what rpm speed you found best. I am also going to go practice and then we will see how close they are. Also what is your timing at?
