I know the physical requirements to put a sbf into the engine bay, but are there ANY transmissions that will work other than the mustang? I have an 86 RUG behind the 2300, but want either an AOD or 6 spd manual. If needed, I can get an 82 GT RUG from a neighbor, but don't know which bell housing will bolt to it AND a 6 spd. The 5.8 is coming from an 87 F250 w/ 4spd, but it has a hydo clutch. Will probably get ALL accessories w/ engine. w/p ->flywheel, valve covers->oil pan. will run RPM air-gap w/ demon carb. 1 wire ignition, 1 wire alt, full eec delete.

I may grab the intake-harness-eec just for kicks. I just don't have time/money for a full efi conversion.

I know the usual list:
oil pan/pick-up, 89 'vert mounts, swap headers, exhaust, tranny x-member, rad/elec fan, 6 in cowl hood, suspension all needs replaced anyway, intake/carb/ignition/alt, battery relocation, rollcage, 5 pt harness, rear seat delete, 5-lug, sway bars,...anything else?

Its my go-to-town car. :D 5 liters are just too expensive for the performance.

Oh yeah, trannies, where do I look? Fox body only? how about a midsize 87 LTD wagon 3800v6, that's AOD? right? The trannies from mustangs go for more than the car+motor will be.

ANY help/advice/news will be greatly appreciated.

thanks for stoppin' by

Not sure what you are trying to do? Need to decide stick or auto. Then proceed.

The easiest will be a Mustang T5 from a Gt, bellhousing and all. Not sure what sticks will bolt to the truck bell, but probably not too many. I think the trucks use a Mazda stick shift. Next easiest would be a Mustang AOD, or other v8. I think a 3.0 V6 has the same bellhousing pattern, but not sure.

I would like a T-5 or a Richmond OD six speed, but my budget for a tranny is less than 350 right now. I have 250 in the car, 175 in the engine, and 125 in the carb/intake. So far, I'm at 550, every t-5 I find runs like 500-650. The v8 stangs run like 1000 with drivelines in tact. AOD or T5, either way.

will f250 aod clear trans tunnel? can pick up for 50 more, still bolted to engine. have drove truck, 1 and 2 work, cannot get above 25, salvage yards are rough, especially w/o seat, lol.

I just dont have money for Mustang parts, man they have proud owners. Totalled, they ask like a grand.
