2.3L to 351w carbed

I am looking at a 4cyl to a 350w EFI swap.

I was wondering if anyone had a guide or step-by-step to this swap. I am kind of on a tight budget too, so the cheapest possible swap would be the best?

Would it be cheaper to go carbed, or more expensive?

I have swapped motors before, but it was a Honda and I am just now getting into bigger V8s and domestic cars.

If your on a buget would be cheaper to go with a 302. I just did a 4cyl to 302 swap then blowed the motor up. So now im going to go 351w. You will need a different oil pan, headers, motor mounts, fuel lines, and a few other small things.

same motor mounts. But you will need to cut a hole in the hood or get a cowl hood.

Is there any difference between EFI and Carbed?

Would I find more hp for less dollar out of carbed and would it effect the swap any?

It may be cheaper to start with a 351W if you're going to buy an aftermarket intake and headers....since if you buy that stuff for a 302 and then turn around and swap to a 351 you'll be buying parts twice.

Also you can make it fit under a stock hood....you just have to use a Performer intake and one of those cheap triangle breathers...but i'd just go without a breather personally.

Ever body has been telling me that i would have to change to a different set. But I didn't think so, Thanks for the info.

i used lowered solid mounts(3/4" lower), edelbrock performer intake and an edelbrock 650 carb with no spacer, also my air cleaner has a 5/8" rise base(you can buy a lowered base) and a 2" element, the 351w clears by 2" at the front edge of the air cleaner lid with the pace car scoop, i'd imagine there would be about an inch under a stock hood

So, I understand that the carbed motor would be easy to install, because i will be using a manual T-5 transmission so I won't have to deal with the computer, although I am wondering how you rewired the ignition to work with the carbed motor?
