I am having my gears swapped in my 97' GT 5 speed.

I recently did a 4.6 PI engine swap and with a 70mm BBK throttlebody and CAI setup.

It has a highflow catted x pipe and flowmaster mufflers. What approx should I be running in the 1/4 after gears? and then after a decent tune?

Thanks

I appreciate the info..... I wish I could take it to the track. We have over 12" of standing snow on the ground and the local track is closed for season. I found a good reputable shop offering a great deal on a gear swap. Since I do drive this on the highway quite a bit I pretty much knew that 4.10's were outta the question. After doing the PI engine swap the 2.73 gears are definitely the culprit holding this car back. I do not want a racer, but I want a good launcher that I can drive on the freeway. I figured that enough people do the gear on these things that I could get a ball park figure what I would run in a 1/4 mile.

In the spring I will take it down and see what she will do....until then, I will just keep adding to the wish list....

Happy New Year all

Hills Automotive on Division
They are doing a differential gear swap and bearing replacement for about 1100.00. That is about 200.00 cheaper than any other estimate.

Yep your rpms at 65-70mph will be a hair under 2,000. I dont do a lot of higway driving due to school being closed for now so I dont know what my mpg is yet...

Wow....major difference.....

I just got the car back from the shop yesterday. I had to have the whole differential rebuilt. But completely worth it....it is like having a new car.

I highly recommended a PI and gear swap on these....definitely awakens these cars!!!
