Is there anything out of the ordinary that I need for this? I have all the shims bearings races and the ring and pinion pinion nut crush sleeve. So they were saying at work(ford dealership) that I may need som, ething, for the carrier because its machined differently for the smaller gears. He is however a chevy racing guy and said its that way on the chevy gears.
Help I want to do the install next week!!:SNSign:

you should not need anything special... other then what the above link mentions. That said, given the age of the car I would put new clutch packs in the trak-lok. You can get the kits off e-bay for around $50 I think.

I changed from 2.73 to 3.55 and replaced all bearing including the axle bearing and seals. I also had the trak-lok rebuild using the carbon fiber clutchs that are used in the cobra and what a difference from b-4. It cost $300 in labor for everything.

Jrichker- I work at a ford dealership and we do rear ends all the time. I personally want do them but there is a guy that does them.

Thanks for the info guys. Ill see if I can scrounge up the trac-lok clutches. There are probably som,e laying around here in the shop......like every other part im installing :)

He was probably thinking about the carrier cross pin. It has to be machined with a notch in it to clear the ring gears above a certain ratio. You don't need to worry about it unless you go with 4.30s or higher on an 8.8" rear end, or 3.73s or higher on a 7.5".

+1 on farming out the job. It requires special tools and some experience to do the job right. A bad rear gear install will give you all kinds of headaches.
