#1 fill capacity. my tranny is a big bellhousing pan fill(tci) with a 12 or 13 inch 3000rpm stall from hughes. the after market dipstick is way the hell off. tranny wont even go into gear at full mark. does anyone know the refill capacity of this so i can mark the dipstick.

#2 tranny leak. last week i took i to the track(13.2 @106 woohoo) and noticed a cloud behind me. in the pits i jacked her up and tailshaft back was soaked. im 90% sure it coming out of the breather under hard acceleration because it doesn't leak under normal driving. can a person pot the top off the breather and run a hose to the firewall with an axle breather of something on it?

sounds like you have a different problem. If the dip stick says full and it wont go into gear you might have a problem inside teh trans, the leaking under had accel, might be from you over filling it. How old is the trans?

1 year old 1000 miles. it did this when brand new, it took 4.5 qts to fill to full mark with a dry converter. i put flluid in till it went firmly into gear and added an extra quart and a half.

Just trying to eliminate the easy stuff, you are checking the fluid level while it is running in park, correct?

also, did you burp the valve body? (cycle through the gears a few times with the rear axle off the ground)

I seem to remember it being around 11 quarts, but it's been a long time since I did mine.
I'll try to find the fill info.

Edit: Autozone's site says 10 Quarts

4.5 quarts sounds about right to start with, but once you start it you will have to add to make up for what is getting pumped through everything (torque convertor, cooling system, valve body, servos, etc...)
