So, I've owned my 08 for just about 2 months now, thought to put up my impressions of the beast. I've used the Stang about 80% of the time for general running around, errands and such, and have driven it on a trip to GA which was about 1200 miles round trip.
Gas mileage: I really don't track this, but I do enjoy only paying about $35 to fill up the tank, quite a nice change from the V8 SUV that my wife drives (and I still pay to fuel up). On my trip to GA, I set the cruise at 80mph and coasted along just fine, I think I only stopped for gas once on the way to and from.
Comfort: Since we are talking about trips, for long distance it kinda sucks. Keep in mind I'm comparing it against my Denali, but for a sports car it isn't that bad I guess. Sure it could be more comfortable but why? For running around town it's just fine.
Power: I don't have any crazy mods other than FM mufflers and a 1 inch drop. The power is more than enough for driving around town, or highway speed. Honestly, if I had 500hp, what would I do with it? I can pass just fine on the highway, and accelerate like crazy if I so choose from a stoplight. I'll probably add a CAI and tune, but only because it seems like something I should do, rather than something I NEED to do.
Brakes: I have tested them a bit on the twisty roads near my home, and I'm not impressed. I'll probably do the cheap upgrade to slotted or cross drilled rotors, new pads and upgraded lines. Seems like a real weak point on the car.
Handling: Again, in stock form, with a 1 inch drop, nothing to write home about. For normal driving the car does great, if you step up the pace...well it wants to move about much more than it should. Coming from someone that has raced motorcycles on road courses, I know what planted feels like...and this car could use some work. The good news is, I don't plan on fixing the "issue" as this car wont see the track anytime soon. For what I need it for, it does just fine.
Badass Points: All black, limo tint, chrome wheels...I get lots of looks and compliments. The growl coming from the mufflers turns heads as well. This car is amazing, relatively cheap, and a real keeper. I'm glad I bought it.
Summary: For trackdays, outright speed, and lap times I'll stick to my 1000cc sportbike. For daily driver, cool points, and head turning capabilities my GT is tough to beat. I love this car!
