hatch windows?

I noticed my car I just bought has a horrible leak all the way across the bottom of the hatch window. There is some silicone sealer but its not working at all. What should I use to fix this leak? Is there some kind of rubber that fits beneath the plastic trim at the bottom of the window?

Second, I do have a spare hatch w/glass.... the hatch itself is shot - rusted out but I want to remove the glass. How do I do this? Just rip off the trip and it comes out?

Thanks in advance!

Is the hatch presently on your car rusted out at the bottom where you say it's leaking?

Why not just take it to an auto glass professional. The glass has probably moved and is not seated right. All the sealer in the world won't help it. They'll have to pull the glass out, fix the window frame, and reinstall.

no, its not rusted at all, its a take off from another car (the one on my car) but there is a 1/8" gap between the window and the window frame... i'd rather not bring it to a glass place

A 1/8" gap's a pretty big gap. You must get a lot of whistling noise from the back too. Could be the glass was taken from an incorrect year or car. Most likely pre-1986 or could chassis twist on the hatch lid be the culprit?
