Interesting timing for this.

A month back I replaced my intake and T.B. I also did many clean up things, and one of them was blocking the coolant. I did for a cleaner look, and I like it:

:OT: But did you paint your radiator hose and cap and rotor?

ITs ricer horsepower, those flame decales add 15 HP, underbody lights add 5HP, body kit adds 25 HP, CAI adds 35 HP, and a civil war cannon sticking out the back adds at least 50 HP. LOL

The other thing this guy was telling me was that I should have used the 4cyl engine mounts when I did my swap, he said they were much stronger than the stock 5.0 mounts and when he said my coupe was 1,000 lbs lighter than a GT... he really doesnt know what he is talking about.

Hey, why don't you post the store's phone number up here? I think we could all use a little holiday cheer and calling and asking for Mustang advice...

Let's see - 20HP from egr spacer coolant line deletion, the coupe weighs 1/2 ton less than the GT and the 4 cyl. motor mounts instead of V-8 mounts. Hmmm. This guy should quit his job and become the VP of Marketing for The Tornado.

I think I am in a bar room!

After reading about an icing intake and get rid of the coolant lines, I am going to have to respectfully disagree with all this nonsense. The feeling of more power is a great misconception. Anybody can call me a liar. Fine, back it up on a dyno. A number of accounts time and time again have strongly, without a doubt, proven that those lines need to stay on there.

Why, it doesnt make sense to have 195 degree coolant passing into the EGR spacer right? It is robbing horsepower to have that hot glycol flowing through there. I thought the same thing before I went on to further my education.

What is cooler, 1500 degree exhaust gasses, or 195 degree temp coolant?

I think that is a no brainer.

ok, so eliminate the EGR right ,, big power gains NO!

The computer is already mapped in fuel and timing for the EGR. When you have the hammer dropped and are going for your best E.T. most of the emission stuff is inactive.

I studied this in part a few years ago with my prof. and it is true, Removing all of the EGR components does not increase E.T. or and RWH.

I am not on here to start fights, just to help people. Also there are several articles in Muscle Mustang and 5.0 that concern this area and they laugh at the people who feel its a big power gain ,, even if its just more responsive.

Driving around town the EGR actually helps cool the combustion chambers and helps prevent detonation.

How? Inert gas is recirculated back into the combusion chamber where it can't be burnt therefore less O2 waiting to burn some HC's.

My car runs 12.50's with all the emissions equip and emits 0 CO's.. I think that is a pretty astounding thing to accomplish.

Sorry for the long post, I just dont want to see anybody do more damage than good.. Happy Stangin !!!

Only reason I did away with all the EGR/ smog stuff was to clean up the engine bay and it definatley did!

I did away with mine for the same reasons; and I used my chip to turn off the egr and thermactor functions in the computer so that there aren't any timing/mixture issues due to lack of egr.

Thats cool

Some people choose to do away with it for whatever reasons. I just wanted people to see why the lines had been placed there.

I know my buddy runs a victor, on his stroker, with a dummy EGR spacer that he has fogger fittings screwed into. The nice thing is, there isn't any hot gasses traveling through the manifold!
