My clutch cable snapped so I got it replaced. However, now my 1st and 2nd gear grind every time I shift into them. 3rd,4th,5th gears are fine...

My question is do you think I just have an adjustment issue based on the fact that the transmission shifted fine before the repair?? Or do I have a more serious/costly issue on my hands now?? Thank you!!

Adjustment would be my first guess. Try the cheapest thing first.

I agree with GDawg. Any symptoms that show up immediately following a repair suggest that the repair was not done properly or to completion. It's not a coincidence that you're having shifting difficulties following clutch cable work. Check the install and adjustment.

Make sure you check the cable at the fork.
