I have a 2000 Mustang GT that will not start. This is what happened: When I was driving, I put the window down but then it wouldn't go back up. I got home and turned off the car and proceeded to check the fuses under the dash and in the engine bay. I found no bad fuses but the car will not start now. It cranks like its going to start but it won't. Also - the instruments are dead and the odometer is all dashes. If I leave the key in the on position, the gauges all activate except the odometer. Any idea what I'm looking at as far as diagnosis and $? Can this be a PCM problem or a fuel shut off problem?

Sounds like something with PATS, PCM, electical but what exactly I have no clue. When you flash the computer with a handheld tuner the odometer goes all dashes so that's what I'm basing it off of. Did you recently have a tune put onto the car and unplug it midtune?

More than likely you have messed up a fuse or didn't re-insert the fuse correctly. My first guess is the PCM fuse. That is the reason for all dashes on the cluster.

Check fuse F2.2, F2.8, F2.34, in the CJB. Check fuse F1.26 and F1.14 in the BJB. Don't just "look" at it. Test with an Ohm meter. Better yet, verify there is 12 volts on the load side of the fuse.

Post back with the results.

Thank you - I inquired about the PATS while talking to someone at AAA and he said that the car could not crank if PATS was the case - also, the theft light wasn't flashing rapidly. As for the tune, the car has been serviced regularly but nothing special. When I first bought it 12 years ago, the entire computer system fried while driving and best explanation I got was that it looked like it had been shocked - it was under warranty then though. The only other electrical thing that happened since then has been the AC last year - and I had to confront the dealer because the fix they gave me was to wrap a fuse with copper wire and shoved it back into the fuse panel - could that have damaged the electrical system?
