The shifter cable in my V6 Automatic Transmision Mustang needs to be replaced. It hasn't broken, but it has become very hard to shift from gear to gear. When I got the car inspected, I had a mechanic look at it and he said it should be replaced since the plastic over the cable has deteriorated and the bare cable is exposed. I do most of my own work on cars but have not done this job before and wanted to see if anyone has any experience with this job who can advise me if it is something that a "do it yourself" mechanic like me can do at home. It looks pretty straight forward, but I wouldn't want to get into something unanticipated and end up having the car towed to a garage to finish the job. The part is only around $50.00, and it looks like it involves some bolts and clips, but as I stated, I wouldn't want to start the job and find out I'm out of my league. any advice is appreciated.
