Can anyone help me with a problem I am having of a raw fuel smell in the interior of my car? While I am driving I am smelling raw fuel. Anyone ever had this issue and know what the problem could be?
In the trunk on the passenger side, the filler and I believe vent run through the interior to the tank. Could something have been hit there? The tank is also right below the spare tire well; could something have punched it (sounds odd, but I've seen it done)?
First check everything front to rear for an obvious fuel leak. Second, double check the rubber splicers in the fuel line again...be suspicious of the fuel filter. Third, recheck the rubber grommet (tsemmett mentioned) where the gas tank filler tube mates with the gas tank. The rubber grommet is a not uncommon failure point...replaced mine shortly after getting my 2K GT. Several videos and threads on "how to"...make sure you heed the warnings to run your gas down to nearly empty or you will wish you had. Finally, if no leak, take it to your local auto parts and have them pull the codes...may be an emissions piece has failed. Happy hunting!
