Here's the problem:
Yesterday i went to unlock and disarm my car, however instead of doing so the alarm started to go off. The doors still unlocked, just the alarm horn was blaring. The remote would not shut the alarm off, however it would still lock/unlock the doors and arm the alarm. The alarm wouldn't stop until I overrode it and powered the entire alarm system off. I haven't tried powering the alarm back up. I'm wondering what may have caused this problem. Could it be a sign of my battery going out (I've put 130k miles and 4.5 years on the same battery) or is it more likely a problem with the alarm control unit or whatever. Thanks for the help.

ps. as far as i know, its the factory alarm.

I think it's more likely the control unit, or a short somewhere in the wiring.

probally in the unit. this is why i hate alarms. they cause nothing but problems for us. ever look under the dash and see how bad the wiring is hacked?
