I have recently purchased a 2001 GT with a 5 speed. My question is the clutch engages about half an inch off the floor, is this normal? I was told that there is no adjustment on the clutch and that it auto adjusts. I am used to my SVO clone so this is all new to me. Is the clutch on its way out or is this in the realm of normal operation?

Pull the clutch pedal up. It has a ratchet mechanism that should help lift the pedal!

Mine grabs almost 3/4 of the way to the top. It's done this since new.

I tried pulling it up a few times, but it still grabs the same. Anyone else have the same adjustment or do i need a new clutch in a few months?

The previous owner might have put an adjustable cable or firewall adjuster on it. If so, you can adjust the engage/release point higher. If not, you can buy a quadrant and firewall adjuster and then adjust it yourself.

You also might have a broken factory quadrant. They are plastic and sometimes strip a few teeth.

Yeah but is a "cheap fix" and you'll love the head rush you get when you install the quadrant!!!
