Ok, I'm pretty sure my fuel pump is shot. I get power to the inertia switch and when I wired directly to the black/pink wire the fuel pump didn't come on. So now I'm wondering what fuel pump I should go with. I've got a couple of options I'm considering which all cost about the same:
1. Stock fuel pump from Ford which flows around 85lph
2. Steeda fuel pump which claims 40% more lph then stock so approx 120lph
3. SVT Focus pump which flows 185lph

I'm leaning towards the SVT Focus pump (3S4Z-9H307-BC) but I'm wondering if there are any downsides to it. My GT is basically stock with a few bolt-ons. I saw some posts that recommended keeping at least 1/4 tank at all times (not sure why). Anyone have some first hand knowledge on this or recommendations?

Eh.. that 1/4 tank at all times is if you're running bost. If you are supercharged/turbocharged and the pump gets starved of fuel, you can pretty much guarantee something is going to break.

On a naturally aspirated vehicle, you could definately run the SVT pump, but if you don't have any plans down the road to ever run forced induction, or nitrous, I'd just go ahead and stick with the stock pump. I don't know enough about fuel pumps in general to tell you what the downsides to running the focus pump are, but common sense tells me the pump is only going to "pump" what your fuel system requires, so the possibility of providing TOO much fuel should be non-existant.

I should also mention, Randy Stinchcomb should be able to get you a great price on either the OEM or the Focus pump.

Thanks for the advice guys. Down the road I'd like to go with a SC (either Vortech or KB) so I think I'll order the SVT Focus pump tonight. I can't believe that my fuel pump went out with only 44k miles but oh well...at least it'll give me a chance to upgrade and look forward to future mods.
