I bought my 1998 GT with an O/R H pipe, BBK Shorty Headers and a Flowmaster catback.

It's inspection time so I need cats. What are my best/cheapest options?

This would work, but $410 is a little much: 1996-98 Mustang 4.6L Bbk Catted X-Pipe For Shorty Headers, 2.5" at LRS - Same Day Shipping!

There is also someone nearby selling his stock 2001 GT catted h-pipe for $150. I'd much rather spend $150 than $410. Will his fit?

If anyone has any other suggestions I'd appreciate it.

Where do you live Dean. I still have my stock '98 midpipe and if you're anywhere near Minneapolis I'll sell it to you, PM me if you're interested.

IIRC the 96-98 midpipes had a hanger in the center near the crossover pipe, while the 99-04's didn't. They should be interchangeable though as you don't really need the connectors in the center (I didn't attach mine )

I'm in NJ so I think MN is a little far. Thanks though! You've got a very similar ride to mine N8Dogg98. I like your style haha.

Thanks for the advice d98gt. I'll probably buy the 2001 gt midpipe and swap that out every two years if that's the case.

I'm running an h pipe from an 02 gt.from what I was told a stock h pipe from an sn 97 will work in an sn 95 4.6 but if it is from an automatic car it will only work in an automatic sn 95,however supposedly. One from a 5 speed sn 97 will work in either versions(stick or auto)of a sn95.I'm not sure of the accuracy of that info, but that's what I heard.
