Ok I have a '99 Dakota R/T that I will be selling, and then picking up a 2001 GT. Couple questions I would love to have answered.

1.)What does a stock 5-speed 2001 GT run 1/4 mile?
2.)Can I pick up a nice 01 GT for 15K?
3.)Any popular problems with the GT's? (kind of like Dodge and trannys )

Low 14's normally.
Probably, depending on where you are.
Squeaks, groans, and transmission problems.

In spite of their problems though, I'm still firmly convinced that the newer Mustangs are the best engineered cars on the road. I wouldn't sell mine for anything, except to pick up a better one.

As far as I know there are no major "problems" with the late-model 'Stangs, at least nothing like Dodge tranny's

Thanks, just one more question. I'm 18, have never been in an accident and have never recieved a ticket (knocks on wood). What am I looking at for full coverage, since it will have to have full coverage because of the loan. I was thinking $2,000/year maybe?

For a newbie driver? In a newer muscle-car with historically hgh rates even for veteran drivers? I doubt it will be that low. All you can do is ask your insurance agent. For full coverage, I would bank on something closer to double that...$4000/yr?

Well it's not under my insurance, its under my parents name...so that makes a big differance. Also the weird thing is, we had a Ford Lightning quote of only 1800 for full coverage.

Oh god, not the "full coverage" thing again. Define full coverage and I'll help, otherwise full coverage means 50 diferrent things to us.

1.)average 13.9-14.2
2.)easily
3.)2nd gear grind, that is about it.

As in full coverage I mean...Liability,collision,fire,theft....just about anything anything a full loan on the car would require. My 99 Dakota R/T was only 1700 a year for full coverage and a quote for a SVT Lightning was only 1800...so my parents have a pretty good plan going on. I figured I could get a 01 GT insured pretty easily at a good cost.

if you are still on your parents insurance just put one of them as the primary driver and you as a primary driver on another car, though its a little unethical it will save you big bucks I am really suprised at that quote for the lightening, I thought they had as bad or even worse insurance rates as us.

Theres no way its gonna be 4000$ a year. Unless you have a really bad
record. Probably more like 2000$-2200$

I am 17, I'm with American Family insurance with my parents. I have

100,000/300,000 BI/PD
50,000 Medical
500 Comp Deductable
500 Collision Deductable
Under Insured and Uninsured for 300,000
Roadside Assistance

All for $2908.23 a year. I had to shop around...

Alright well I will be calling my insurance company Monday morning to get a quote, I hope its under 2500 or I will not be getting the Stang. I hope for the best, I want a 01 GT very badly.

we got a quote of ~340/month with about the same coverage as SVTstang03 posted plus a lot of other junk like rental coverage and things like that. This is on a '04 GT btw.

If someone sells insurance and can insure us cheaper, PM me and I think you'll have some business

We've got an '03 4Runner V8, '98 CRV I-4, and '95 Nissan I-4 paying ~250/month with only liability on the Nissan.

I was quoted $6,144 per year on an '01 Cobra... That's completely insane. I think you should expect at LEAST $250 per month. At our age it's hard to get a decent rate anywhere.
