Looking for honest help and advice. Have a problem. Always wanted a rag top, always been a Ford guy, after retiring decided to get one. Found a rust free, black 2002 GT automatic, tan top and interior, no rust, adult owned, no mods, 78,000 miles, top won't go up or down. Installed both hydraulic lift cylinders and added fluid, convertible top now works. The interior was VERY DIRTY. Total interior clean up, had seats recovered, removed carpet, scrubbed and got new floor mats. Drained and put in all new fluids, including brake fluid.New Serpentine belt, battery & hold down hardware, plugs, coils and filters. Noticed tiny coolant leak at front of engine, have a new intake manifold to install as Spring project. Ready to roll, look out Dairy Queen! One rather BIG problem, turns out my wife HATES riding in a convertible! Dreams of car cruises, car club trips and top down bliss, shattered! As the saying goes: "If Mama ain't happy, AIN'T NOBODY happy!". Looking for advice on how to sell my former dream car. The only negative really is that the car has the original black paint and all of the little dings, scratches and imperfections that come with 23 years of use. Have the CarFax report, no accidents, clean title, car originally purchased in Florida and 2 owners there in a little over a year. Then purchased by the man I bought it from who owned it for the next 19+ years. He said it was garaged every winter and was his summertime weekend toy, back and forth to golf and drive grandkids around. Then the bad news / good news: NOT being any kind of "car guy", never wasted too much time cleaning or waxing and panicked when the top wouldn't function and did not want to put money into a 20 yr old car. However, he never "beat" on it or raced it, no mods, no rust. Reasonable price, and after almost a year of searching, found my dream car, or so I thought. The gist of this message is this: I need to sell it and get a hard roofed car, but I really don't know its value. I will be up front and honest, I have about $12k invested, and I know I can't expect to make a profit or probably not be able to break even. I just want to move on and get another car. What the heck is worth?
