Just wondering if you guys think that I should buy an '01 cobra with about 15,000 to 25,000 miles, or a brand new 2003-2004 GT? I am brand new to mustangs, and was a GM fan for my whole life until now. Thanks for any advice.

No better way to introduce yourself to a Mustang than with a Cobra
A lot more potential with that baby!

I'm voting for new GT.

I, too, was faced with that decision, and looked at (5) '99 Cobras (2 years ago). They were all beat to crap.

I'm picky and having a really clean GT is more fun for me than a beat up Cobra.

Get the Cobra and have fun. It'll pull all the way up to 6800 and respond alot better to mods like exhuast with the 4V under the hood.
-Once you get a Cobra, find a junk GT or trade with someone and get rid of the IRS and get a live axle. If you would still prefer a nice ride, replace the half-shafts and learn to control the wheel hop.

99? Who said anything about a 99? He's looking at 01's. I too have been looking at some 01's and I've seen a few that were as clean, if not cleaner, than 03/04 GT's. Get the Cobra and be done with it

Good point because it does say a lot. But if I could, I would definately get a Cobra.

The 4V has more potential but, if you like a challenge and have some good automotive skills, then a 2V can be alot of fun.

I just went through this exact thing. I was looking at '01 Cobra converts. I was looking very seriously at one at a dealer that was also a Saleen dealer. I ended up with a sweet deal on a new '03 Saleen coupe.
