2003 Gt Auto tranny problem?

I have a 03 Gt with auto transmission and for the past couple of days it has developed a problem. The problem is that when my car shifts from third to 4th(overdrive) it takes it a second and finally goes in. Then when I give it just a little bit of gas it drops into third then back into fourth. I have no service light on and was wondering what exactly my car is doing? It has 72,000 miles. please help.

are you sure it's not slipping? when it shifts is it firm?

overdrive is usually the first to go,you can try changing your fluid,who know's might get lucky

Yeah i'm due for the fluid change, but what do you think the problem is? anything to do with throttle position sensor?

no I don't,would effect all shift points not just od

meaning your trans maybe on its way out. lowest cost would to get the filter and fluid changed if it is time for one. see if that helps. also allows you to see the old fluid and possible shavings.

Yeah i havn't had the fluid changed or the filter since i've had my car. Is it a good possibility doing this will take care of the problem ?

If you ask me i think not. The long shift is kinda normal, the o/d band application sucks. But fluid solving the unexpected downshift into 3rd is doubtful
