Just picked up a 2005 GT ,the motor is blown . I have a wrecked low mile 2007 GT that i want to pull the motor and drop into the 2005 . My question is ,can i pull the motor and automatic as a unit or am i going to have to split them to get it all out . Motor is the 3 valve and 5 speed auto .

You can pull it all together, the load levelers you put on the engine hoist makes it easier

I spent yesterday and today pulling motors ,the 4.6 3 v from the wrecked 07,and the 3 v from the red 2005 ,easiest motors i have ever pulled . And by the way the blown motor in the 05 isnt ! Yep the starter was stuck ,the solonoid kicks but the starter doesnt spin ,i put a breaker bar on the crank and it spins with no problem haha ! Pulled it any way because it had around 170,000 miles on it and the wrecked 07 only has 70,000. Time to pressure wash the engine compartment and the 07 motor and put it back together . And all the shelby trimming is coming off

I agree it might be easier to pull them as an assembly
But you are going to get pissed on by trans fluid out the tail shaft bad
Maybe find another driveline yoke to use while you pull it out

Going to keep it a simple driver ,but the motor that came out may get a rebuild and a super charger and dropped into my 56 fairlane

It runs ,but i noticed a problem ,the 05 harnes has one plug in different from the motors 07 harness so it looks like i have to change the engine harness . The cluster reads limp mode ,i will hook up my code reader and if i cant find the problem i will stuff a viagra down the throttle body ,that should get it out of limp mode!?!?

The problem is likely the mismatched harness plugs. Are the plugs for the same things? Can they be adapted to mate?

If it has a blue oval, it probably does not need a blue pill.

I went ahead and swapped the harness ,now i have a plug by the oil pan and the new 07 motor doesnt have the plug in like the 05 has . Is this a low oil warning sender and can i simply jump it ,i sure as hell dont want to have to change oil pans

Drill a hole, add an o-ring, and install a level sensor if you've got a mind to have it working.

I am wondering if i can just take a sensor and plug it in and it would be good ,i guess it is an oil temp sensor ,as long as it doesnt show overheating i would think it would be good
