Here ya go...

Ford Racing announces a development program to expand its performance parts catalog offerings to include the new 2005 Ford Mustang. The new Mustang carries on the tradition of affordable performance and will most definitely be the target of enthusiast "tuners" and racers. Look to SEMA in November for the program launch.

That's good. Now if Ford can get it right with the horsepower. Add 25 to 50 horsepower to the new 2005 GT like the Pontiac Firehawk and you got one fast car.

I found this tidbit on Autoweek.com. I assume it's about the car pictured:

http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=100918

Here's quote:

the car is powered by a 5.0-liter crate engine producing 420 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque.

Sounds pretty potent to me.

if they have a factory backed effort it will go miles towards altering the view that the 05 is only a 1/4 beast

Anybody know the cost of the Cammer motor?

I'd love to see a Boss 302 with that motor...it would be worth a LOT to me...

It won't be cheap.

edit:
This assembly is basically a complete package of all the high performance modular DOHC 4-valve components being offered in the Ford Racing Performance Parts Catalog.

With proper headers (not included) and low restriction air intake and vehicle exhaust systems, the engine will exceed 400 Bhp and have a very broad torque curve, peaking at over 365 ft./lbs.

That car was on that Discovery channel last night and while they were testing the prototype intake on the dyno and I think they said the engine was making 470 ft-lbs of torque. If someone taped the show maybe they could verify that.

I saw the show and I did not catch any specific HP or torque #s. I'm pretty sure that what you heard them say was something to the effect of "That's more toque than we've ever seen at 4750" So they were talking about torque at 4750 RPM but didn't give a #.

Did they have to call it the "Boy Racer" project? *slaps forehead*

MrMorden, all of the Ford OHC engines are relatively expensive... and then you have to consider that the 5.0L Cammer is a limited-run, handbuilt 4.6L stroker. Not one of the extra Cobra or Mach longblocks lying around.

The 5.0 Cammer uses a larger bore, 94mm. - 4.6L = 90.2 mm.
It's stroke is the same as the 4.6 @ 90 mm.

Why do I keep seeing people talking about the "Boy Racer" project like it's a production model Mustang?

... Besides, adding 25HP to the 4.6L won't cost more than a couple hundred in mods. DIY.

Because it is a "production" model. You will be able to order one through FRPP or Multimatic.
