My 06 GT 'vert that I purchased last month, at about 800 miles, the check engine light goes on, take it to ford (b/c my OBDII scanner wont link to my GT for some reason) and they say it is a "loose fuel cap code", and was an "evap leak code" they reset it and I went about my merry way. Ford said they did a leak test and found no leaks. Well yesterday, at 1005 miles, light comes on again (still can't link w/ my OBDII scanner) and I take it to the dealership (another one) and they replace the gas cap, still say evap leak, they told me"we don't know why it says there is a leak"...we want to keep your car for a few days to talk to Ford and a few other people. What the hell? Anybody have this problem? And why can't I link with my OBDII scanner?

Yep had the same problem, but a new cap solved it
As far as the OBD-II stuff, the 05's+ use the Controller Area Network (CAN) Protocol. Check and see if you can get a firmware/software update for your scanner.
