2008 GT Auto Supercharged. Power?

I've purchased the FRPP 500 hp intercooled kit for my GT Automatic.
I know that the Auto cant handle this power, but I wanted the intercooler.
I have plans to change the pulley to lower boost, thus keeping the Auto in good shape.

Ive also purchased an FRPP Axle Back exhaust with an x-pipe .

The question is, how much HP will this thing handle. I dont think anymore than 450hp. I've searched and found some other articles, but I cant find anything with the intercooler. I dont think thats going to affect the tranny, but I wanted to make sure.

If I wanted to upgrade the Auto Transmission, should I go with a complete Transmission or just have this one beefed up? If I do that, where is the best place?

I've read about the Level 10 a bit, and that may be an option. this car has 800 miles on it, and I dont plan on beating on it all the time. There wont be alot of hard launches, but Im still concerned about the occasional thrust.

Also ordered the black wrinkle valve covers for the car too.

My tuner is going to work on the shift patterns, so I feel pretty good about the tune. I guess the biggest worry is scattering the tranny.

Any thoughts?

Get a bigger (or additional) trans fluid cooler.
Change your trans fluid frequently.
Have your tuner write a conservative tune.
Enjoy your car every chance you get.

Sounds like you're heading in the right direction. ~450 is the "magical" number, rule of thumb, for these cars. I'm pretty sure when and if you do it, you'll want to get the one you've got reworked. I'm not too knowledgeable about the automatics.

Who is your tuner? Be careful. A buddy of mine just got burned with a "local" dyno tuning place who didn't know what they were doing. It was for a Magnacharged F150. The truck got half the gas mileage as before, no power, and than his transmission took a dump on him. If it were me and I didn't have a very reputable tuner in my area but I had a dyno shop. I'd use the "factory s/c" tune and get some data logging done on the dyno and send it off to one of the big guys like Justin with VMP or Doug with Bama.

My tuner is going to be Intune Performance. Scott bowen is the man! I've done alot of research, and I cant find anyone displeased. hes got a Mustang dyno right there, and his parking lot is always filled with the nicest in nice cars for this area.

the last time i was there, 3 z06 vettes, countless Mustangs, and a really nice 911 turbo.

TCI Tranny is what I would start to consider if you are going to this horsepower level. This is my goal for my GT as well.

i know TCI makes some nice stuff, but I havent heard of anyone that has bought their transmission. Anyone have any first hand info? I've started looking at this option just earlier today.

Like the above posts...Its ALL in the tune..With the right custom tune, you can still make good power and be safe.I too have an auto at 420 or so rwhp on a mustang dyno, power cooler is going on soon and should be 460 whp + safe still..Youcan have 350 whp with a crappy tune and blow it up..Find a good reputable shop, drive far if you have to...

I was thinking about a Transmission Cooler as well.
TCI does not advertise a transmission for a supercharged application. All ads I see are for naturally aspirated vehicles.

I emailed them today, hopefully get a response monday. If TCI can build it and it be reliable, Im in.

I may have to drive it with whats in it until it croaks. I think it would be cheaper to install a new torque Converter and increase the line pressure, according to one of the mechanics at work. If I did that along with the transmission cooler, I think I may be okay. Any thoughts?

Increased line pressure will make for shorter shifts (which is good as that will be less time slipping between gears which creates heat). Trans cooler is really critical with a loose stall converter as the higher stall speed will create more heat. It's all about heat, which would likely kill ours transmissions long before a physical breakage from too much power.

I haven't noticed any problems with my 06 auto and I am pushing well over 400 rwhp with my Vortech H.O. The tune is key.

TCI never responded. Im working with my transmission guy at work as well as Joe at Gene Evans Ford on specs for beefing up the transm.

Stay away from that TCI tranny. I had my tranny die way back at about 445 RWHP.
I have the Level 10 Stage III and it has held up to 523 RWHP fine for 20 months,and my car launches very hard.
