--First I will say I LOVE this 2012 GT---my complaint is the location of CUPHOLDERS & the DOOR that covers cupholders---it's location is exactly were my ELBOW rests will driving/shifting(6 speed)--If the DOOR is closed(coveringDrink holder) my elbow kinda opens the door & pinches my skin when the door opens..??

Anyone have this problem??

Is there a KIT to put a PADDED Square thing to cover the DrinkHolderDoor??

OR, as time goes by I'll learn to drive it correctly & this 'issue' is just me being picky??

Thanks in advance for your advice/experience..

Console

I get what you are saying, just never found it a problem. I found my elbow just rests on the console just aft of the drink lid.

Yea it's annoying but not that big of a deal. I have more of a problem with the chrome piece on the middle compartment that gets hot as hell. It gets in the 100's in Louisiana and for that split second u forget that chrome piece is hot and it burns the **** out of u. Or when the chrome piece around the shifter the sun hits it ad blinds the piss out of u lol gotta love it though

--AH, good to know---that CHROME PIECE looks like it could burn ya, not me not yet.

I think I'll put tape on it just in case, or no cause I'm TINTING windows the DARKEST Most Illegalest shade-----I'm no gangsta, I do this w/all my cars--I like the privacy.
Though I must say, I'm so proud of my GT I dont wanna hide....

no issues on it for me, yes not to fond of the cup holders but got used to it, as for the inside getting too hot and burning the hands. I had the same issue, I live in Fl after a week of it, i had an appointment for my windows to be tinted.

My biggest beef is the cupholders directly inline with the shifter. If I have a drink in the cupholder it totally gets in the way of me shifting

I've popped the storage compartment open with my elbow a few times, but once I stuck a dedicated ipod in there I locked it and it's not been a problem since.

I suppose the drink holder placement would be an issue if I allowed drinks in my Mustang but my car is a strict no food/drink zone. My wife hates it, but she'll just have to get used to it. If she's that thirsty we can take her car.

What's a cup holder?

I try to keep my elbows out of my crotch when driving.

My rules isn't as strict as yours, since my wife isn't to fond of my driving if we're together we take her car. So most of the time it's just me and my two girls in there, so the rule is only daddy's allowed to drink in his car. No cups though, only bottles

This means you're too small for the '12 GT. You will have to trade it in for one of these>

Yea, I'm a little crazy about it but I have a "beater" car to drive for food, commuting, and when the weather is bad. It was the same way with my last Mustang, a '96GT. I owned that car for 4 years and it never had so much as an unopened can of soda in it. I won't even grocery shop in the car (the old '96 or my '12) for fear something might leak in the trunk. On the other hand, when I traded in the '96 GT the dealer even remarked that it still had a "new car smell" even though it was 4 years old.

I feel the lid on the compartment seems a bit flimsy, and moves around when leaning on it while entering and exiting the vehicle. Yeah, the chrome gets hot too. So I had the windows tinted, and got a sun screen for the windshield.

I have been looking for someone that sells a console protective cover that just sits over the top and sides which would be a lot more comfortable to lean your arm on than whats there now. Us guys with automatics usually drive with one hand and rest the other. Resting your arm on the console gets quite uncomfortable after a while not to mention the impressions it leaves on your skin. Haven't found one yet but I'm sure some seat cover company must make one. I'll post it if I find one.

I don't have that problem ( my 10 has the same interior as your 12) but they should just delete the cup holders on manual transmission cars.I can't shift with a medium size 7-Eleven coffee in there without painfully contorting my arm and its to deep for a small coffee . The lid gets caught on the rim and gets pulled off. And no I don't drink coffee while driving I like to pick up coffee to drink at work.

I understand you man. Nobody drinks in my car and no food allowed in at all. Ever! If I take someone out to eat they better finish their meal because no doggie bags are being put in my car. I'm not running out for fast food either. I like the new car smell and will keep it as long as I can.

Agree with the issue, rarely use the cupholders because of location and I lock my console to keep from opening it with my elbow. I've seen leather covers with padding for 2009 and earlier; wish someone would wake up and do the same for the 2010+, my elbow would be thankful...
