Yesterday, I test drove a red candy 2012 GT wit an msrp of $37,880. It had the Brembos, 3.73, security package, and comfort package. I emailed the dealer today and got an online only quote of 33,539. Is this a good deal?

Yes... but I would get an "Out the door" price from them before deciding if it's "too good to be true".

I had a dealer that was going to order the car for me for dealer invoice which was great but once we sat down to talk about the deal they added about $1200 in dealer fees which made it not such a great deal.

The best deal for me was using x-plan. The MSRP of the car was $35,480. The with x-plan, the $500 rebate and the $750 private cash offer my total price before tax/tag/title was $32,237 including dealer fees which are limited to $100 with x-plan. You can get x-plan by spending $50 to join the Mustang Club of America for a year. This makes you plan eligible.

None of that is to say that x-plan is best for you but just keep it in mind when you sit down to talk numbers with the dealer. Or just ask them to email you the out the door price.

Also, if you haven't ordered the brochure to get the $750 in private cash, do it now! Just go to Ford.com and request a mustang brochure -- tell them that your timeframe for purchase is 1-3 months and that you'd like to receive information electronically. You should get it in your email. This doesn't work for everyone but does work for most.

It is a great price, if that is your drive away price. Don't let them add on any fees.
I always demand the find price to me. If that is it and you can afford it, go for it.
