a friend of mine got a set of 205 afr heads and wants to know how good they would work on a combo like mine except that he has a trick flow stage 2 came and a cobra upper lower in take . he knows he will have to fly cut the pistons . any one have some similar to that combo

Neither that cam or intake match the potential on the AFR205...

I would pair the 205 with a Victor 5.0, Holley Systemax, TFS-R or Box or a Spyder, custom cam all the way. If this is going on a stock shortblock it will be lazy with the big head...

I have AFR 205's on my 408. On a 302, they would be a little on the large side if you ask me. Wouldn't work right unless you build a pretty high revving motor.

you can put them on if you want, but your definately not using the potential of the head. My friend has the 205s on his 347, but hes running a cam with .670" lift on the exhaust side and .640" area on the intake. I mean you are running a large valved head with 205cc intake runners, you need to mate that up with a Vic. Jr. , Super Vic or any of the others mentioned above. 185s would be more realistic i think. I have a 359W im building for my notch, but my cam is also the same one that my friend has that i mentioned above. If you dont have a cam opening up the valves enough and a good high flow intake to match, how can you have that head flow it full capabilities? just wastin your money. And i agree with the guys who posted above......

He can sell the heads and buy AFR 165's or 185's.

I agree, But if has the cobra intake ported it can work well. Just needs a better cam like you said.

I am going with a 331 stroker with a Tmoss ported upper and lower/ extrude honed upper with 185's. He might be pushing it with the 205's.

my one buddy has an 89Lx hatch, we threw in a DSS 331S short block, with a Trick Flow stage 2 cam, trick flow heads(not twisted wedge), and Street Heat upper and lower intake with a 7 psi Vortech. We didnt have the blower on right away and the car ripped, it was a great street car and a blast to drive. The blower just added to the fun! I just think unless your going kinda balls to the wall with a cam, intake or CI the 205s are a waste of money.

The AFR 205 heads are one of the best heads out there. In my opinion, they are the best overall head.

Just not for a 302/306...

don't go to him until you are ready to purchase.
Submitting the build sheet is a commitment to order/pay........
