275/40 on a 8" wheel?

ive seen it done with drag radials but not street tires. i figure it would work. can a 275/40/17 be mounted on a 17x8 wheel? how "dumpy" will it look?

pics would be great.

I don't have any pics, but I used to run them on my stock 96 cobra wheels. It looks tight. Do it.

I run them on my 2001 GT rims. looks perfect IMO...I hate when the rim sticks out more than the tire...let me see if I can find a pic

I run 275's on my '98 Cobra's (17x8), no fitment issues at all:





I only wish they looked fatter though. For some reason they look much wider on a 9" rim. However, the difference in traction from going from a 245 to a 275 is like night and day, well worth it

Ive seen them on 7 1/2s not that good looking but they fit.

but people say you wont get the full benefits if you dont use the right size rim is what i heard. i have 98 cobra rims and i think i wanna try some 275s next too but not sure if i should not waist my time

I got a set of 275/40/17 Goodyear F1's for free. Plan on running them soon. That really doesn't look that much wider than the 245/45's.
