i read in some of your articles ,about 28 oz and 50 oz balancers,i have 87 ho,i was told it was 28 oz ,it was hooked up to a c-6,i am putting it in my 1970 it will be hooked up with a c-4,i think i will have to change the flex plate to do this, is there any way to tell the difference between 28 and 50 onz damper and flex plate, can i use the stock setup thats on the 70 302,thanks for any help you can provide

87 5.0 is 50 oz. You can tell them apart if you have both by the size of the counterweight on both the balancer and flexplate, the 50oz weight is much bigger. With the balancer, the casting number is the giveaway, it'll be an 80's part number. You're also right about needing a different flex for a C-4, unless the C-4 has a 164 tooth bell.

balancer 50 0z

the numbers i found on the damper are e4te-a3a,so i am guessing its an 1984 truck balancer, does anyone know for sure, also not sure what amount of teeth are on the flexplate till i get the other motor out,its is a stock bell housing on a 1970 c-4

E4 is an 84 part number, so yea, it's 50 oz. If the C-4 has the dipstick going into the case behind the bell, it's a 157 tooth. Both B&M and TCI make a 50 oz 157 tooth flex for a C-4. One is $50, the other $100 in Summit's catalog.
