289 blocks, help!

I have read that the difference between the 85 (E5AE-HA) and 86 (E6SE-DC) is that Ford partially siamesed the cylinders in 86 - which would account for the increase in weight between the two. The change was designed to strengthen the block/bores.
That's exactly where Ford said the extra four pounds of iron is, thicker decks and semi-siamesed bores ( at the bottoms)

Do what you will, its your money and I dont give a shi*.
You kids should go back to your buzboms or be spanked.
Hey I have an idea, go get a 260 ford, its the same block, right Lman

my, I have had terrible luck lately...I just seem to upset everyone. Good thing its not *me*....... :p

..if I were to start a stroker today, I agree with previous posters that a late-model roller block is the way to go. Has a little less heft than earlier versions, but you wont notice unless you are seriously pressurizing it or something along those lines. Im not a big fan of retro-roller conversions (another topic for another day :D ), so if you are starting from scratch, start with a roller 5.0 block and get the roller cam from the get-go.

..but I am curious as to what a 'buzbom' is....
Pretty sure it's a V1 rocket. Or maybe a Civic made to sound like a V1?
If that's what the WW2 vets are calling the ricers, I like it, but I'm sure they're too stupid to get the reference.
Well thats a new low here on Stangnet.
I will forward your message to a WW2 forum and just maybe One will come to your mommys house and flaten you..... IDIOT.... :notnice:

I don't get it. Really. TOM B insults the "buzbom" crowd ... LMAN wants to know what buzbom is ... 66 coupe gives it a shot with reference to the V1 ... and Tom B gets in a huff. What gives?
Well to tell you the truth ( and this is for those old enough to remember this line in the movie "Cool Hand Luke" :D ) ........................................"WHAT WE HAVE HERE, IS A FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE" :rlaugh: :stupid:

And a very, very famous line that quote is too! It never fails to amaze me that so many people these days project their issues onto other people and then display a sense of shock when those other people ask "What the hell is your problem, dude?"

Paul Newman's role in "Cool Hand Luke" was a classic. A total masterpiece.

Hello to D.Hearne and any others that remember me - Had a 65 289 block in the garage - measured the length of the cylinder bore at 5.065" with 6" calipers - hope this helps.
Well it's 4am here and this is my "Monday" to go to work, so y'all will have to wait on the cylinder bore length measurement on the 302 I have till at least Sunday. Possibly till Tuesday. :D
