Hi, this is my first post in the Classics forum.
I have a friend with a 289 that he would like to get a bit more power out of.
I have some E7's that I could give to him. But Thumper said the chamber volume is too big.
Anyway, what would you do to get 50-75 more horsepower out of the motor.
Cost is a factor. But porting I can do for free.
Thanks.

Cool... use the 289s!! open the intakes to the 1250 felpro and the exhaust to the header gasket, the EGR Bump... even thought there is no plumbing... Ford was ready..., on the side of the exhaust port needs to be "blended" smooth the sharp ange out...!! Go to a weiand Strealth intake and a 3310 ( list holley) or modify the 600 that is on there!! Purple spring, 31 squirter, and a more aggresive accel pump cam ( or turn the stock cam around) keep the stock valve size OR bump up to the GT40 size( oops... the money word...) Cams... see the PAW catalog and check out the SSI hyd. cams.. get something in the 512-525 lift and 230-245 @ .050, ( WOW>>>> 49.00 for the cam!!) and then Up grade the ign!!!!! MSD is way cool... but $$$. Get a 85 5.0 Dura spark distrib and MSD box!! pull the heavy spring out of the mech advance!! HMMMmmm.... GEARS!!!!!! 8 inch 3.00s has to go... drop in a set of 3.55s or maybe 3.73!! 28 spline axles will hold , untill he bolts on slicks.... then?? it becomes exciting...LOL!! Money spent... 160.00 for intake, 30.00 for holley mods, 65.00 Dura spark, 125.00 MSD box, 168.95 for gears.., 49.95 for cam and 89.00 for lifters... springs keepers and retainers.. 140.00 and the sucker is rocking!!! have fun.................

Just me................................
