I'm going to order a new pioneer balancer from strokermotor.com tonight and I'm not sure if I should go with a 28oz or 50oz. I know we're supposed to get the 50oz (at least thats what I think it is) but what difference would it make if I got the 28oz balancer? They are made for strokers but why wont it work on my 302?

It wont work because the crankshaft is made for a 50oz imbalance. If you dont have that, your crankshaft is going to be unbalanced which can cause very bad engine damage.

50 oz. Also, you can get a balancer that has a removable weight so that you can use a 28 oz or no weight for a zero balance if you decide to get a stroker kit someday.

50oz and if you run a 28oz you will get a hell of a vibe that will tear bearings up over time. Like the post above a lot of companys offer balancers that have the interchangeable weight. Most strokers like my 331 will use a 28oz balance. Romac, ATI, fluidampr, and SVO are all good balancers but Im not sure if all of these have the weight swap option.

50 oz on the stock block. A 28 oz for light weight internals.
