Progress Thread 2nd Fox Body - some window trim work!

Just let me know when to say 'I told ya so' and I'll do it. I've got the stuff for my air and have not put it on, just run the compressor for the belt, I always rag people about removing the ac only because I know someday down the road they will wish the still had it, I keep brackets and bolts to sell to em!

There's nothing like cruising in 90+ weather with the ac on....then busting someone's butt....just gotta cut the ac off first. It amazes me that people remove the compressor and put another pulley in its place. The ac drags the engine down when on....but when it's off the compressor is just another pulley. To each their own. On a true racecar I understand.

The EPA has a problem with people doing their own work with r134a. So many people just crack a line loose and let that stuff into the atmosphere. When using the cans its impossible to use all the freon. Disconnect them and some will get out. It's the flammable part that concerns me. Now we have these combustible condensers riding right behind the front bumper....pressurized flammable stuff. I don't know what the flash point is but I don't like the idea.

They're getting rid of all the dyi r134a rechargeable cans. Don't know if they'll make you have to have a liscense like r12. Most of the rechargeable cans aren't really r134a anyway. They use combinations of different gases to make a r134a "like" product. Either way, they'll be gone in the next few years if EPA has their way....and they always get their way.

Don’t worry, I saved all the bolts and brackets, along with the longer belt. I’m not against the AC. The components just looked like crap, and it’s not in the budget to fix right now.

Package in the mail today. Ten feet of silicone vacuum line to redo the line to the charcoal canister and to the MAP sensor. Seems like real nice stuff.

A lot of work with the wire wheel last night to finalize paint strip. One more bath with Dawn and finally some mineral spirits. First coat of primer on.

Cleaned up and painted the valve cover bolts too (what was the original purpose of those extensions on four of them)

Figured it had something to do with the wires, but those original looms are long gone. Thanks!
I actually snagged that picture off an eBay ad for a new set. They're out there. I still have mine on my '95 and My '90 Mercury because I think they keep the wires neater than anything else on the aftermarket.

Can you still use an EPA 609 cert to buy it or is there another license level?
