3.55 gears in the mach1 and 05 mustang

You can put whatever gear in our rearend that you want man. And i'm not trying to be a instegator but i see these reactions all the time about gears. Everybody says 4:10 4:30 don't be a wussy. What you guys have to remember is that some guys are'nt looking for all out performance. Some people want a compromise. Personaly i drove my friends 2000 gt with 4:10s and i thought it was way too much. But thats just my opinion. Best comprimise is 3:73s Good luck. :flag:

Im going by a ford lot this evening because I read in the latest mustang and fast fords under specs of the comparison of the 40th ANN mustang , mach and cobra , it said the 40th had 3.55s in it and its been buggin me ever since to see if that is a misprint .

dude, shuttup, the difference between 3.73s and 4.10s in 5th gear is like 200 rpms or so.

If you drive your stang from city-to-city on the highway and are concerned about gas mileage, don't change your gears, sell your Stang, and buy an import.

Amen!!! :hail2:

And what's this "compromise" garbage about? Compromise between what....performance and your fear of the gear? :notnice: Plus, there's no such thing as "too much." :D

And driving on the snow was probably easier with the 4.10's. Cars don't suck, drivers suck.

I talked to one of my friends and he said 4.10's would eat gas on the interstate pretty bad and that you wouldn't be able to go much over 100 mphr. He said 3.73's are more reasonable for a everyday driver. I might go with 3.73's.

Sounds like he was smoking a joint when he came up with that :bs:

That is a misconception that came from back in the day, before nearly every car had an overdrive transmission. I had 4.30's hooked to a turbo 350 tans and my top speed was about 110. With an over drive trans, 4.10's aren't a problem on the highway.

Well how are the mach 1's running so good with just 3.55's in the rear. Im know they have the shaker hood that gives them about 15 to 20 hp and a bigger cam, but are 3.55's really that good and i believe the 05 mustangs are coming with these gears as well. Most people are saying go with the 4.10's a few are saying go with the 3.73's, but it seems like 4.10's are the most popular. Im not going to run my car at the drag alot though, mostly to school and work. It is the only ride i have, but was thinking of getting a truck to keep the miles down. I only have 19,000 miles on my 02 stang and thats pretty good.Ididn't want to get a supercharger because they are so expensive but with gears, pullies, shifter, headers, and a chip i should be running mid to low 13's i believe.

because the mach has four cams and not a "bigger cam" and 270+rwhp stock
