3:55 or 3:27?

3.27 - 70mph=2006rpm
80mph=2293

3.55 - 70 = 2178
80 = 2489

3.73 - 70 = 2288
80 = 2615

4.10 - 70 = 2515
80 = 2875

4.30 - 70 = 2638
80 = 3015

All assuming a 245/45-17 tire.

I would not even bother with the 55's - that is too close to what you have now.

I have always thought that 3.27's would be a nice highway (and compromise) gear.

Good luck.

i also have 3:73s which i don't like much either. they would be fine if i didn't drive much, but 1st and 2nd are too short for me for a daily driver.

i am going to 3:27s after i finish getting the kenne bell in.

Well I had 3.27s... the reason I did was that my car used to be a woman's daily driver. One day she took her husband out and he noticed she left it in 4th on the highway. She told him that in 5th with the 2.73s she could never pass anyone and it was a dog, so he put in 3.27s for her.

He used the 3.27s because it was the last gear you can use and still correct for it mechanically by replacing the speedo gear with a real Ford gear. The car definately has good highway manners. Just enough in 5th to get it going but still turns a low RPM. Only problem is it is DEAD in the drone zone when cruising at 70-75 with my flowmasters.

Still didn't stop me from dropping 4.10s in though...

IMO 3.55's are the best all around gear. Much better than the stock 3.08's and you don't have too worry about running out of rpms with forced induction. Unfortunately, you have 3.73's now so you won't feel much difference in driveability at first.

I have 3.73's and I LOVE my car on the highway.. I turn like 2500-3000 depending on how fast i want to go that day.. i still get decent mileage... I had the 2.73's and I don't think I would ever go back... These are better than teh 2.73's all the way from off the line in traffic or otherwise to being able to pass on the highway in 5th withouth much problem...

I would find a 2.73 or 3.08 car and go drive it before going backwards...
