Hey guys, I am thinking about buying a set of 3:73's for my 92 5.0 lx auto to replace the stock gears. I'm having a hard time finding a speedo correction gear for the 3:73's. Does anyone know where I can get it from if they exist? They make it for 3:55's but I would much rather have 3:73's. My car is a street car but I want it to be a little quicker out of the hole and a bit more responsive. Do you think the 3:55's would make a big difference? Let me know. Thanks!

Mods to my car are: BBK cold air intake, ford racing 9mm plug wires w/ motorcraft platinum plugs, accel cap & rotor, flowmaster 40's, and soon to have UPR catless x-pipe w/ stock headers.

That would be the gear you need right there. You can make sure by referencing this chart

Never mind. Forgot you were 92 AOD. If you call them and they cant help you they will most likely steer you in the right direction. Their customer service is quick and convenient so it shouldn't be any trouble.

You need the white 23-tooth speedo gear for your car. Order a couple...they tend to shear. The speedo won't be 100% accurate, but it's as close as you are going to get

You'll need the black 23-tooth speedo gear from 1983-95 Mustang 23 Tooth Speedometer Gear & Clip Kit, Auto Trans at LRS - Same Day Shipping! but even with that your speedo will read about 5% fast.

The white 23-tooth speedo gear is for the T5.

Yeah, LRS is who I am going to get my gears from anyways since they sell the whole kit. The black gear is for 3:55's though according to that chart they have listed. Is it for everything from 3.55's and up? Or let me ask you this: is gears or a full exhaust going to make a bigger improvement on my car? I already have the flowmaster 40's and have a UPR catless x pipe for my car still in the box. I was thinking about ordering BBK equal length shorties and the matching flow tubes for my x pipe & mufflers and just finishing the exhaust. Which is going to make a bigger improvement? Im guessing gears?

think 3:55's will be good enough? Probably not as good as 3:73's but at least my speedo would work right. If I did go with the 3:73's and the 23 tooth speedo gear is my odometer going to rack up miles quicker because I've heard that it does this- is that true?

hey another question: I have noticed in like the past couple months that I have drove my car it's only burning one tire at times and sometimes it will burn 2. I put bigger back tires on it last summer (245's) and when I first put them on it SMOKED them but after a couple more burnouts later it seemed to stop burning posi. I am a little rusty at powerbreaking it but do you think it's time for a new differential? I'm guessing the stock Trac Lok is worn out?

Nevermind. Posi started working today? guess the clutches needed a little fluid in them from sitting in the garage for almost a year not being driven. burns both tires again
