I'm looking for a better jump off the line and want to know what gear ratio to get and what kind of gears to get. I do alot of freeway driving and don't want to wind out my overdrive doing 90. I have stock 3:23's I think (not sure ) I still want to go 90 on the freeway and not be at 3,000 RPM's

Any and all help as usual is appreciated.

Thanks

90 on the freeway and under 3000 RPMS????? Good luck.

If you going to get gears, get AT LEAST 3.73s otherwise, it's a waste of your cashflow.

I'm not sure what my rpms are at 90 but it's gotta be right around 3000 or above?

3.90s and 4.10s will put you over 3000 at 90. at 2500 Im at around 73mph.

What are your plans for future mods?

then 4.10 gears if you go to the track often. 3.90s if you rarely go to the track or 3.73 if you are worried about gas.

I do alot of freeway driving (80 - 100) so I think 4:10's would be a bit much. Anyone have an AUTO with 3:90's that drives like hell on the freeway?

I do a lot of freeway driving with my 4:10's and cruise 80 and 90 all day long. In fifth gear at 80mph you are right around 3000 rpm

I have an auto with 4.10's that drives like hell on the freeway. I'm at 3000 rpm at 80. Not too bad, plus the flows are out of the drone zone. If you have an auto, I wouldn't go any lower than 4.10's.

You probably have 3.08s, 4.10s are nice wih an auto if you like to cruise at 75-80 and don't do alot of highway. Go 3.73 or 3.90 if you don't mind giving up a little acceleration for better cruise rpms and mileage.

What trans? How fast do you drive? Whats your rpms at 90 mph?

He said he was concerned about rpms at 90 mph.

Not picking on you, just curious.

i have the stock 2002 5 speed tranny. at 90 mph in 5th gear it is usually around 3100 rpms i believe. 5th is actually a gear that will continue to climb in mph instead of being o/d. i drive around 85 from ga to la. other than the gears all i have is o/r h, flowmasters, pullies, densecharger, diablo chip.

Agreed. Im going to be going with 4.30s in my auto. If I was a serious track racer and had another car for a beater, Ide probably do 4.56's.

I can't comment on any other ratios, but I have 4.10s and love them. 5th is a power gear now and it's nice having power while I cruise down the highway. Around here I am normally doing 70-75 and i am around 2500rpms. The car pulls much harder in all the gears. Instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, it's more like super 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th.
