so i wanna get 3.73s in my 02 gt, the hing is i do some highway driving on occasion would my 5th gear be alot higher then stock at say 75 which is about 2000 rpm can any one help me out...thankss

3.73s were perfect for me in my daily driving, with the addition of a blower it was even better... except at the strip where I'd be better suited with stock gears or 4.10s on stock wheels just because of the need to shift just before I cross the line.

My morning commute NA was slightly hilly and my fuel mileage actually increased under 55 mph because I could stay in a higher gear through the hilly area. Highway things didn't change too much staying under 75, but speeding a few mph over did net a bit higher RPM and noticable mpg loss. It's worth the tade off though IMO whether you go with 3.73s, 3.93s, or 4.10s

3.73 make a great choice for a daily driver

I've had mine for about almost 2 years and about 35,000 miles...I think they are the prefect choice for a street car that spends any kind of time at all on the freeway

I agree with all the statements. I also ahve 3.73's. I take several trip on the highway and I still get anyway from 24 to 26 mpg constantly at 70mph. When I had my X-Cal tune on, I once got 27.3 mpg. Not bad at all. People ask me what type of milage I get all the time. I tell them and they just look at me. I tell them that the days of V8 sports cars getting terrible gas milage is for the most part a thing of the past. A guy a go to church with has a 08 350Z. I asked him about his gas milage. He told me he got 19 mpg. He also said he has a lead foot. In 6 gear his car is taching at 2700 rpms at 70 mph. My car at 70 is taching around 2170 according to my Scan Gauge2. Pearl02.

I have 3.73's and hate them in a mod motor..... they are no where near enough gear. My car is not a daily but a weekend toy so fuel consumption is of no concern. I can say that my 3.73 car gets the exact same mileage as my 4.30 04 gt used to. If and when I get time/money to swap, 4.30's or bust here...... Don't fear the gear...

**this is my personal opinion and experience so take it for that**

Oh, if you plan on going fi then 3.73 or 3.55 is a good choice as you don't want to run out of gear or have to worry about a 28in tall tire.

i agree with what everyone said...i have 3.73's and i kinda wish i went with the 4.10's but im going f/i over next winter...there a good gear for a dd but if its not a dd id at least go with a 4.10 if your not going f/i

First gear is waaaaay to long with 3.73's. 4.10s heck, 4.30s now thats a FUN first gear. 1.9 sixtys on street tires with 4.30's here. Like I stated above, (with city driving) my mpg is the same if not a bit worse in my 3.73 gear car as my old 4.30 gear car. And I KNOW my 98 is lighter than my 04 by quite a bit (alum block, ac delete, sn's are a bit lighter than new edges).
