For reference, I have the magnaflow stainless kit, and I was very impressed with fit on my 67.
I don't have pics, but I bought the x-pipe from Summit. Fit was good, and had no problems as far as too close to anything. Didn't have tailpipes though.

I need to figure this out as well. There is no way I want to choke down the 408 with small pipes. The problem is, the 'vert is sitting low, and has a lot of additional steel underneath to "firm" everything up. We may have to ovalize the tubing at points...
I did a 3" kit for my 67 using the Flowmaster universal kit. It comes with a bunch of bends and it turned out real nice. Jeg's sells the kit a bunch cheaper than Summit for some reason FYI ??
