Just another thread on here about street racing. Not the first, and won't be the last. I lost 2 friends back in high school on Westheimer. Today, dumb kids killed themselves and an elderly lady. The nissan long block from their car was thrown over 50 feet from the wreck, without the tranny or anything attached. The aerial view from the choppers was very graphic, even without the bodies being shown, the human remains were very, very evident from some of the different stations. It was very upsetting when I watched it.

Don't street race, don't race from a role, just take it to the track. Especially for anybody in high school with all of the pressure from your peers.

i get made fun of sometimes cause i don't wanna race anyone on the street. i think it's stupid. sucks that they took an innocent person with them:nonono:

I'll admit that I have hung out at a few meets, however I never saw the point of hitting the streets and leaving it out there. I live two close to three tracks for it to even be an option.

Racing in a crowded street is just plain stupid :nonono: , although it aint the only thing killing people on the streets.

talking about accidents. two days ago i almost wrecked my car , a drunk guy backed in the highway blocking 3 lanes with his 1991 caprice and i was the first car to be on him and i barely avoided him , the other 3 people behind me weren't so lucky , luckily no one got seriously injured but at least 3 totaled cars , the guy claimed i hit him and spun him out of control , my car didn't have a scratch on it and they knew he was drunk so i didn't get charged with anything, what people would do to blame others....

The local BMW car club has a safety school twice a year out at the police driving track, good way to find out what your car can and can't do, drive on wet track, accident avoidance, ABS exercises, etc. That way, when the fools racing past you on the interstate spin out or crash you can safely avoid the carnage.

Very sad story. It dosen't matter people drive they will still race it. My nephew races his S-10 four door pickup truck. I'm always telling him to be careful. I'm just happy that I survived my teenage yrs. I did stupid things like must teenagers. Pearl02.

Sad to hear about that.

There was an incident that happened here a few years back that really upset alot of people.

Two illegal immigrants were street racing down a congested highway that runs right through town. They came up on traffic, and one of them swerved to miss a car, but struck an elderly lady that was checking her mail. He came up on the sidewalk and took her out.

The speed limit was 45mph IIRC, they were doing probaly 65-70 when weaving through traffic. I don't understand it.

Whenever I see someone drive like an ******* I just want to run them off the road.

thats y kids in high school shouldnt be driving 350z's and any car alike, sports cars are not for new drivers

Maybe immature high school kids.....the problem with that is atleast 9/10 high school kids are morons that cant handle a sports car.

I drove my car throughout high school and still have it with no problems.

its got a lot to do with the kid rather than the age

You can put a moron in a civic or a sentra and they can still go 100 mph and kill people

That's so very true. You can drive anything fast and be stupid. Pearl02.

I lost a cousin to a street race four years ago, and they were racing trucks after drinking. It is sad, because we were so close I thought I had taught him better than that. The whole go-fast scene breeds such fierce competition between people that they end up taking it out on the streets. I'm guilty of racing on some back country roads and taking off fast from a light if someone tries to rev on me, but maybe I should have never bragged about it to him and taught him more about taking it to the track and completely ignoring anyone who would give and kind of peer pressure to race on a busy street or any place not prepped for a drag race. I do suggest if you have a friend or someone that looks up to you to teach them early about the dangers of street racing and the concequences that could come from it.

I completely agree, this is just so sad; especially bringing in a innocent victim:(. I know that when I have a kid, their first car is going to be safe as ****....it is gonna be the heaviest, slowest, hunk of turd I can find. I don't understand how these HS kids are driving around in all these new, expensive sports cars??

One of my friends little brother was given a Dodge Ram SRT-10 when he turned 16, and crashed it THAT DAY. I drove through the HS parking lot the other day to drop my little sister off and it was ridiculous....Brand new mustang GT's, Hummer's, G35's, 350Z's, etc. I mean, we all have been through the good old HS days and all the dumb things that we did; but some people/kids are just STUPID.

Take it to the track

Sad...

They are always racing on that part of 1960, Looks like it was right behind the airport, I live like 10 mins from the crash site. Truly is a sad incident though, BUT those fackers should have hit a tree or lightpole and then died, sucks and innocent bystanders had to loose her life. I noticed the video said that the other vehicle racing was tracked down and brough back to the scene of the crime, Im curious as to what sort of charges he is facing, if any? Regarless, it is a sad tragedy, which like many of ya have already said could have easily been avoided, its just one of those cases where daddy/mommy have to much money and will buy ther brats anything to shut them up. RIP to all the victims

He can be charged with the same stuff as the driver of the nissan would be. So whats that, vehicular manslaughter or something? Hes just as guilty as the other driver according to the law.
