To ensure we Americans never offend anyone -- particularly fanatics
intent on killing us -- law enforcement and security screeners are not
allowed to "profile" people in public places or security checkpoints.
However, they will continue to perform random searches of 80-year-old
women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret
Service agents who are members of the President's security detail,
85-year-old congressmen with metal hips and even Medal of Honor
recipients. But targeting Middle Eastern male Islamists between the
ages 17 and 40 constitutes "ethnic profiling."

President George Bush said this week, "America is at war with Islamic
fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love
freedom, to hurt our nation." The Council on American-Islamic
Relations issued an immediate objection to the President's reference
to "Islamic fascists". Nihad Awad, executive director of CAIR
protested, "We have to isolate these individuals because there is
nothing in the Koran or the Islamic faith that encourages people to be
cruel or to be vicious or to be criminal. Muslims world wide know that
for sure." In light of this objection, we are left to ponder why every
Islamic leader in the U.S., and the world, does not publicly condemn
every terror action being undertaken in the name of the god of Islam.
Their silence is deafening...

Between 1970 and present, there were more than 60 other notable
examples of terrorism perpetrated by Middle Eastern male Islamists
between the ages 17 and 40, but we think you get the point. Singling
out "Middle Eastern male Islamists between the ages 17 and 40" is not
"ethnic profiling," it's "terrorist profiling" -- acting on prolific
evidence.

Anyone for Terrorist Profiling?

Yup, I'd sure hate it if the shoe was on the other foot; HOWEVER, if these are well-intentioned US citizens/immigrants getting profiled they should be completely understanding of what we're facing. Hell, they should be WILLING to undergo stuff like this just to try and raise face after what their racial "brothers" have done.

Personally, I don't think the whole 'Im not from the middle east, I just look it and have a common cultural name from there but now Im an American so don't group me with those people' is going to fly. You're of middle eastern heredity, deal with it.

BIGOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding!!!! I thought it was funny as hell when 13 Pakis went missing when they were SUPPOSED to check into Montana State Univ a few weeks ago. Guarantee they woulda stuck out like a sore thumb up there. THen again, all my kinfolk up there roll to church with hunting rifles in their back windows >>>:) hah ha Besides, look what the US did to tha Japanese during WWII...camps...that is some crazy stuff. Profiling? YOU BET! Fit the profile? Better change your attitude!

Y'know, that's a pretty strong sentiment.

I know this guy, his older son (now 20 and an Eagle Scout) was a Scout in my troop, the younger son (14 and working on his Eagle) still is a Scout in my Troop. The guy is 52, but he looks younger than me; would easily pass for 'the upper end' of your profile - especcially with a name like Abdollah (his last name is even more Arabic). Born in Tehran, he was in college here in the United States when the Shah was deposed; chose to stay and become a naturalized American Citizen, and now he can't return to Iran because he has "a price on his head back there".

If you think you know where I'm going with this; you are absolutely dead-@$$ed wrong.

Yeah, he gets stopped. When asked for his ID; he hands over his driver's license, Social Security card, and his Civil Service ID - he's a civilian employee of the US Army. He goes through the searches quietly, and he's been known to get really pis... uh...ticked off when somebody passes him over for fear of their being accused of "profiling". Get him talking, and he'll tell you how stupid "we (he includes himself) Americans" are for not hitting up each and every arabic looking male and checking them out. "Don't we Americans realize that these nuts want to kill us??? They've been brought up with the idea that killing Americans and other Westerners is the only way to get to Heaven! It's all they live for!" He'll also tell you that the only way we're ever gonna live in peace is to kill all of the Islamic Fascists (I heard that term from him long before I ever heard it on O'Reilly or Hannity) before they have a chance to kill us. He has an entirely separate rant about the "extremists who've bastardized *my* Allah for their own gratification".

And I made the mistake two days ago of talking with him about this "cease-fire" in Lebanon. He went off about how the Israelis were "the only smart people in the world; but now they're paying attention to the rest of the idiots".

So yeah, there are a few "of Islamic descent" that have no problem speaking up. Just nobody among the "political elite" or the news media want to hear from them.

Some interesting and good points being made here. I have seen the initial post go around as emails a few times. I think it is time that America wakes up and smells the coffee.

As is the case with Stangdreamin's friend, if you are not guilty of anything or trying to hide anything and are proud to be an American of Arabic descent you should not take an issue with the profiling.

Is it a hassle when you are trying to get on a plane or through a security check point? Maybe a little bit, but you should be able to rest at night knowing these TSA bozos are actually checking the right people. Look at the stats people Grandma and little Joey or Bobby-sue aren't the threats to our security.

As far as the conflict between Isreal and Hezbollah, I was really hoping that Isreal would have seen that through to completion rather than accept the cease-fire.

Those weren't Pakis, they were Egyptians. No, they are not all the same.

And this story is EXACTLY why TSA checks Grannies, Babies, etc:

Scotland Yard police are quizzing Abdula Ahmed Ali, 25, and his 23-year-old wife Cossor over suspicions they were to use their baby's bottle to hide a liquid bomb.

NO little Joey or Bobby-Sue in this story, it's a little Abdula.

That's just totally sick trying to use your own baby to cover smuggling a liguid bomb.

But it seems the Dad fits the profile.

Well, anyone supicious looking or having clothing that looks like it could be concealing something that is near a national landmark should be questioned. I mean look at this lady near the CN tower - she's obviously concealing something and needs closer examination.

US airport in 'explosives' alert
Tristate Airport in West Virginia, US
About 100 passengers were moved out of the airport
An airport in Huntington, West Virginia has been evacuated after explosives tests on two containers in a female passenger's luggage came up positive.

The containers were seen in the woman's hand luggage and subjected to swab tests and sniffer dog examinations, both of which gave positive results.

Officials say the woman is of Pakistani origin and was travelling on a one-way ticket to Charlotte, North Carolina.

She has been detained and is now being questioned by FBI officials.

'Highly sensitive'

According to the woman's travel documents she is from Jackson, Michigan and was born in 1978.

Map

Chris Yates from Jane's Aviation told the BBC that both the swab and sniffer dog tests were extremely sensitive.

The likelihood that a container that had not come into contact with explosives would come up positive on both tests was extremely low, he said.

The containers have been moved to a remote area by robot for further tests, airport director Larry Salyers said.

About 100 passengers have been affected by the evacuation, airport officials say.

Bob Aaron from local TV station WCHS-TV is at the scene, and he told the BBC that security at the small regional airport is not very sophisticated, relying on a few security screeners.

The incident comes a week after UK intelligence officers say they foiled a plot to blow up planes using liquid explosives.

This is the second security alert at US airports in as many days.

On Wednesday a United Airlines passenger jet flying from London to Washington was diverted and escorted to Boston after an on-board disturbance.

WOOOAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I just read my comments, and havent read any or all of the replies in this thread. I just want to make one thing ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE! I did NOT mean to sound like a bigot, that reads totally like I am. Look, I spend about 6 months a year "over there", and I meant nothing by it. I seriously apologize if I offended somebody. Next time, I'll read twice before submitting.....SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, I gotta see how many people in here hate me....:flag:

Stop and search

Amen, I am in Iraq right now. I was on a Military Transition Team. I have been on raids, cordons, knock and searches ect.. you wouldnt believe what you find when people dont know your comming. I think the same holds true for stopping people on the street. If I could hide under the defense of racial profiling, I would not have any problem doing something I wasnt supposed to be doing.
If they dont like it, relocate somewhere else.
Hopefully my kids dont have to come here some day. :flag:

I always hated having to chase people through blackwater puddles =( Iraq sucks.

Plus Iraqi's are retarded. They blew up an ice factory because the army was buying ice from it. THEY BLEW UP AN ICE FACTORY ON A 130 DEGREE DAY! It wasnt insurgets, it was locals! stupid...
