30 min pulley install?

So I've got everything ready for the 30 minute pulley installation. But the directions call for an air ratchet to remove the alt bolt.

How can I get this off without an air tool?

The rest of the install will be a snap.

DO you have a local place that will let you use the air gun?

I paid 50 bucks to have Mustang Magic install mine. Took them about 15 minutes!!

You could remove the alt and take it to auto part store. They can remove the bolt and swope the pulley for you. Pearl02.

thanks for the support and feedback! I have a local shop who will install it for 1 hour of labor....but I really wanted to do it myself!

Did you try anything? Electric impact gun? Pipe wrench (the old pully is junk anyways) to hold the old pulley while you use a regular ratchet with a breaker bar? It can't be that hard.

I tried a 1/2 inch drive and breaker bar, but didn't want to trash the OEM pulley.

And a one hour labor charge of $30 is not insane, and they'll probably let me use their tools and do it myself!

In Orlando the labor runs 80-120 per hour. Here in MI, it goes for about 60-90.

I like doing stuff myself also, but sometimes its easier to spend the $30 and let them do it

For $30 I'd let them do it. That way if something goes wrong they'll fix it and pay for it. If you mess something up it will probably cost you more than $30 to fix it, especially if you ended up having to take it somewhere anyway.

sounds like you need to buy an air compressor and some air tools. Ive done all of the mods on my car myself and couldn't have with out the air tools.

Ain't that the truth. I just installed my MRT midpipe and had those 4 header exhaust bolts off in 10min. I even sold my motorcycle a few yrs back to buy my air compressor. I enough money to buy all my air tools. It wsn't that hard to sell my bike since I wasn't riding anymore. Pearl02.

I used to race enduro and stand up pwc's, couldn't have done it w/o air tools. So I moved to FL, downsized the toys, and sold the compressor.

Make sure they follow the instructions to the letter. Theres a starter bolt or something... I cant remember... but if you dont do what the instructions say, people have really screwed up the crank bolt. Be warned!

Yep, there is a starter for the crank. It's longer than the stock crank bolt. You only need it to get the crank pulley started on the crank. I bought a new crank bolt from Ford. I don't think you need a new one but I bought one anyway. Pearl02.

My Steeda kit came with a new crank bolt.

The BBK kit I have includes a longer crank bolt. Their design keeps the stock damper and their pulley kinda mounts inside. Interesting design to say the least, and I'd prefer the Steeda set, but for the price (free) I can live with them!
