300 HP on a N/A 2.3?

Is this possible? My friend keeps telling me he saw this at a dyno a few years back. What would you have to do? Do they make an aluminum head and a stroker kit for these motors? He didnt really give me any info on the motor he just said it cranked 300 HP to the wheels. What do you guys think is he BSing me? That's sweet if its possible I've never seen a 4 cylinder import get 300 N/A. So what do you think?

yes, there are companies that make aluminum heads and stroker kits for the 2.3 motors. as for the 300 hp n/a essenlinger[might be spelled wrong]has got sprint cars [circle track dirt cars]that makes 290hp plus,but there is alot of money and time in getting these cars to do this n/a.if this guy said there was a turbo involved with some mods then it would sound about right.but 300hp on motor at the wheels,if on roller dyno than i want to see this.

My friend isnt really the BSing type but its's amazing IMO. I was searching on the net and came up with a company called Racer Walsh. They have alot of aftermarket parts for the 2.3. So I think it might be possible. I'm gonna keep looking and see if I come up with anything. I just want to prove to all my ricer buddy's that Honda really does suck. They keep raging on Fords.

Sure it's possible. It'll cost you probably closed to $10,000 though. Be much cheaper to do a turbo motor and it would be more streetable. http://www.esslingeracing.com/ , http://www.raceeng.com/ and http://www.turboford.org/sponsors/usp.htm .

Well one thing you have to remember our motors are basically a 35 year old design. they came out in the Pinto as a 2.0 in the early 70's was probably designed in the late 60's with minor modifications over the years. Honda makes really good reliable products and spend a bunch of money on R&D. But it is like anything if you have the money you can accomplish alot.

Cut .110+off your head/port and polish it/gut a carbed intake/better solid lifter cam/upgrade your distributor/slap a full race header on it and you are well on your way.--Or, check into a used ministock motor for around $5000 and modify the rest of the stuff their rule book wouldn't let them. 4m.net is a good place to look, but don't throw any noob/street questions around or it will be much harder to learn from them(or get deals on parts)

The 300HP setup I saw was similar to all the parts you listed but had a Canon intake mounting 2 x Weber side drafts. The head was also ported and polished within an inch of its life and was running IIRC about 11.6:1 CR.

And it was not using a Aluminum head.

EDIT: I dont remember anything about that motor making 300 RWHP.
