I was just wondering what would be the safest way to get around 300-375 rwhp out of a 2.3T. Are Turbo Bleedvalves a good move? I know that i want to run anwhere from 20 psi to about 24 psi. what are some good moves towards making that kind of horsepower? thanks for all your help guys, and i hope you all had a verry merry xmas

300+RWHP

first. if youre looking forward to making more boost (obviously) id go with a larger turbo (t3/t4). 2.5 - 3 inch turboback exhaust. a FMIC is a must as well. bigger injectors/fuel pump. head work/bigger cam (should be available through FRPP). boost controller (id say look for a decent manual but if you can fork out the cash for an electronic... go ahead). TiAL wastegates and BOV's seem to work very well if youre boosting over 20 PSI.

but i'd be more concerned with the drivetrain before making that much power.

If you go by the hp calculators Im making 294 at the wheels. I'm using a stock junkyard engine, cam, T3, stock injectors, etc. plus a 100shot.

It takes it very well and is cheap horsepower.

no worries about the drivetrain, just dont launch that 7.5 on slicks, and your ok.

Cam,headwork are two major steps towards 300rwhp.

Nitrous is another route as 351 mentioned.

Instead of a bleeder valve , look into a "gillis" type valve
( http://boostvalve.com/index2.htm )
for managing boost.

If you wanna pull 300rw (or really spanking close) ive seen a few setups that look like

Cam
Big valves
Home porting
Front mount ic
3in exhaust
Adjustable fuel pressure reg
Gilis valve
header (look on turboford.org for sellers)

That, tuned correctly with a later model "stock"ecu (la/lb , or PE series computer).

No, you will need a boost gauge. This is a must have gauge anyways to help keep an eye on boost creep and other problems that may pop up. The Gillis valve is going to be the most suggested valve from any 2.3T guy you talk to and for good reason. The guy actually owns 2.3T cars and only deals with these cars last time I checked. His son's SVO was on the cover of FF&MM a few months back and guessing by his work on it, that car can produce 300-400rwhp.

This goal is a little easier to reach if you ask me. Well atleast the 300rwhp part. Now first off you probaly can reach 300rwhp using cheaper stock parts than what I'm about to mention. This is just the way I would do it.

Ported head w/big valves ( this should work fine even till 375rwhp I believe.)
Bigger cam than a ranger roller etc
ported intakes ( I'm not big on the gutted intakes myself but if you do this it maybe easier to buy a set from 40bob than doing it your self)
35 lb injectors or even bigger
EEC tunner/ J3 chip burner with somethying like a PE program (the main reason behind a tunner/SDS/J3 chip is that a stock VAM is maxed out around 300bhp. Now with the above mentione devices you can prgramn your car to use a MAF with bigger ibjectors etc. This will make doing 300+rwhp more reachable)
T3/T4 I'm sure a T3 will do fine but a T3/T4 will support up to like 450hp.
40Bob's log header
3" full exhaust from the DP all the way back. (If you want a good deal on a DP talk to stinger)
255lp single intank Fuel pump
FMIC ( you can't do much over 18psi on a stock 2.3T IC, and with a FMIC you can easialy do 24psi with a decent IC)
K&N filter
50 shot nitrous ( if your going to drag race the car this will help you over come boost lag off the line. Basicaly when the juice wears off your turbo is spooled up and ready to go.)

I've now sprayed 40-150hp shots and I've yet to feel the juice wear off.

and when you he says over come lag thats definately no joke. With the small turbo I experience some sort of super mega instant spool. Almost like the gauge can't keep up.

www.boostvalve.com IS the gillis valve. That is the gillis valve site...only reason it's called a "gillis" valve is the owner of the site is Ric Gillis.
