3000 Stall or T-5 Swap???

Can someone tell me about upgrading my stock convertor to 2200. I mean, it will run hotter but I have a tranny cooler, and I need to replace my real main seal so the tranny is coming off anyway. About the torque not kicking in until 2800 or so, I will have 4.10s to get me there quick. Am I missing something?

Please note the updated time in my sig. I did nothing to the car but launch from an idle and was on the same street tires as the video. My car used to run 14.9-15.20s.

I thought about a 5 speed swap too, but my car is NOW fun to drive. I can't count the number of guys at the track that have approached me or vice versa about running our similarly built stangs, only to turn up their nose cause my car wasn't worth their time to line up against - just because I drove an automatic.

Nothing better than looking over at them as you nail second and get a bit sideways while giving a quick thumbs up and :D as you gain a half car or more each shift.

I wish you lived close... and my car was running :bang: , I would take you for a ride. I was SOOO worried about a 3,000 stall. I knew my power band was 2,200 and up, but wasn't sure what to get.

Some of the guys on here will remember my constant posting about stall speeds. There was a LOT of mixed answers to my questions. I originally went with a cheap 2200 stall that lasted 30 seconds in my car. It actually felt pretty descent but I didn't get to test it enough. That company royally screwed me over after two tranny pulls.

Then I talked to Edge. I bought the modified stock stall. 2,400-2,600 is what they would guarentee - so I ordered it. I pulled the tranny again. The stall didn't fit... it was a 4.6 bolt pattern. I was pissed!

For Edge to turn my summer of pain into me being a happy customer was amazing - cost them a bit of money too. I got upgraded to the expensive stall and was one of the first guys to get one.

I'm thrilled with it! I took the videos because I knew I would HATE it and want to send it back. I wanted more than just my word to be an excuse to get my money back.

Instead I used it as a way to show others in question about what to do. My car has all the cheap mods.... the stall was my next best bang for my buck. I full intend to be a high 13s car next spring with my stock motor. I've played the nitrous game and will continue to do so til my 170k mile motor goes pop.... but I want 13s N/A. I got close last trip out, and I found some more power on the way home from the track. I would be testing it Sunday if I didn't have the current rough running problem I do.

Before my car went to running like crap, I felt sure I had found another tenth or two. That puts me very close to my 13s. :nice:

To me you are like I was questionable about staying an AODE. Then why consider a "half" gain? See if Andre will give you my club's discount and put a 3,000 in your car. Don't like THAT and you my friend have the ultimate answer.... nothing will make you happy. Return the stall, get your money back. Sell your tranny and get a swap going.

So that's the guarantee, if I don't like it I can just return it, no questions asked? Seems pretty cool, I'll have to talk to Andre.

Call and talk to him... their website says "100% MONEY BACK satisfaction Guaranteed!" I gave him a thorough run through on not being sure a stall was going to make me happy for the price.

You will have to take it back out of the tranny and lose all the fluid, but Andre is a good guy to work with... they seem to take customer satisfaction very seriously! I learned this from experience. They have a 24 hour phone operator too. I was pissed when I called in late one evening... had to make a decision right then and there on what to do, cause my car was sitting on jack stands. They paged him and he called me after hours.

The guy even called around to see if I could just switch the plate or not. :nice: After the fix, he called to see how everything was going. :flag:

i just ordered my 3000 stall Street Edge and a Transgo from Andre yesturday through the group purchase.

Andre is an awesome guy. when he picked up the phone, i said my name and he knew who i was from my e-mails right away and what i wanted to order.

Cant wait to put both converter and shiftkit in but that wont be until fall because the car is in storage.

I'm going to get the tranny completely rebuilt (even tho it doesnt need it and dont have alot of miles on it) to "Jerry's Bullit" specs except for the Valvebody which the Transgo will take take of. Then i'll really be able to use my B&M Hammer Shifter.

Thanks gcomfx.com for setting up the Group Purchase

95Vert.... I think you have the power to break 13's but you need TRACTION to get there.. Same problem Im having....

Youll love to drive that car after the 2500 install..... I have driven quite a few t5's, toploaders, with almost the same mods as my car and I must say NOTHING OUTSHIFTS AND AUTO!!!
Even the "best" manual drivers are not perfect.... Keep with the auto and youll at least shift the same everytime.
