Been debating this with my friend. What block is the 4.6L Engines built off of? I have a 98GT, what is mine built off of? Is the 4.6L SOHC Engines a 302 Block? and the 4v Cobras a 351? Anyone know anything about this?

Your 4.6l engine is built off of a 4.6 iron block. They were either built in the Winsor plant or the Romeo plant, depending on the year. The 4v engine was built off a 4.6l block as well, except that it is made from aluminum (there are other minor differences). You could build a 2v engine using the 4v aluminum block.

The 302 and 351 engines are totally different. They stopped putting the 302 in Mustangs in 1995. Saleen made an s351 using the 351 motor until 2000.

Are you a damn moron, just forgetful as crap or trying to pad your post count. You posted this EXACT same thread before and had 24 replies. Lay off the crack.

Read this really slowly so you don't miss anything :D

4.6 liters = 281 cubic inches regardless of SOHC (GT) or DOHC (Cobra)

The motors you are referring to (302/351) are pushrod motors whereas the 4.6 and 5.4 motors we have today are overhead cam motors, completely different animals and have nothing in common with the older 302 and 351.

Geez do we have a hall of shame for threads like these?

Yeah i know i posted it before...but i LOST the post, i couldn't even find the F'ing thing  in my "view other posts by UDTBADKARMA". Sorry about that man. Hahaha so i posted it again. Thanks for the link, and no i'm not a moron, it just never subscribed me and i lost the F'ing thing. Thanks again though :D

Dude, i dont know the cubic incheson the engines. Im not THAT inclined about the engines yet. I haven't researched or BUILT engines yet. So i wouldn't know specs. HENCE this thread. (sigh)

What does that have to do with engines or the specs of the motor. If you are old enough to drive than you have had math in school and should know how to convert liters to inches.

Liters x 61.03 = cubic inches (the sizes are generally rounded up)

Do the math

No i dont remember how to conver Liter to Inches, my math is SO rediculous that i dont even ATTEMPT it anymore...and i wasnt even THINKING of that doing that to figure out what engines were what cc. I was just asking.

the original 4v blocks were made in Italy by Teksid. they make the blocks for Ferrari. All of the 2v 4.6 motors are iron. all of the 4v 4.6 motors are aluminum except for the 03/04 cobra. i dont ever remember ford having an aluminum 5.4 block. if you can get your hands on a BOSS 290 motor from australia it would be well worth the money
