302 Clevor question

I have a bare 302 Boss block. It is my understanding that the 351 Cleveland heads (machined for water openings) mated with a boss 302 intake will work.

Is this the same machining used with a regular 302 block with a Clevor setup?

If I get my hands on a 351c head / intake clevor setup, will that bolt onto my Boss 302 block?

What you're doing here isn't a Clevor. It's a Boss 302. Same head mods as the Clevor though. Or use Boss 302 heads, if you can find em. Edelbrock makes a RPM intake to fit this. Look up the part number on their site, then go to Summit Racing and type in the number. It lists for about $335. A Clevor is when you put CLEVland heads on a 351 WindsOR block. Same head bolt pattern for all Ford Small blocks (221, 260, 289. 302, 351W, 351C, 351M, and the 400). You will also need Boss 302 pistons and rods to make it all work. The Boss 302 rods are the same length as the 289 rods (5.155)

just curoius.......what would i nice boss 302 engine be worth???? are they rare ???

They were only in production for two years. And in very limited quantities. That answer your question ?

Great info. So the Clevor setup (intake and manifold) is essentially the same as the boss 302 setup.

Most threads I've read recommend the 2v 351c heads, then the aussie 351 c heads, then the 4v heads for a non track car. What are your thoughts?

Um, sort of. The Boss 302 came first. And wasn't done on 351W blocks until the 80's. It's a Boss, not a Clevor. The U.S. 2 bbl heads have huge open chambers, not good for building compression and definately not good at controling detonation. The 2 bbl Aussies are a good compromise for the street, but the 4 bbl heads (quench heads) will let the motor scream up into the rpm range it was designed for (the block) If you have the cash, a set of aftermarket Cleveland style heads are just the ticket. What I'd do is stroke it with a 331 crank and bore the block to 4.125", if it's the current Boss block. That will give you a higher reving 347. If not, I'd still stroke it to a 331 to better take advantage of the heads.

LOL, yea, that is what i thought......around here people think that every hot 302 is a "Boss 302" .........

Its about as rare as you can get. They are worth many thousands of $$. I dont know but I would guess they start at 10K.

You will know if you have a Boss 302 by the 4 bolt main caps.

personally, if it is real boss motor i would sell it. i could image how much a restorer would pay to complete a genuine boss car. that block would pay to build your entire driveline. honestly to a non boss car it is not worth a penny more than a new $1600 ffrp boss302 block, might as well pass it on to someone who really needs it

Or before that, when you see screw in core plugs instead of pressed in cup plugs.
