302 piston rings won't fit???

Ok, I already apologize for my post, First off, I know nothing about fords, and all I know is that I have a 80's I think 87 efi 302, it has a roller cam. I'm not sure how to read the castings, i'm still researching on that.. I got it from a junkyard and going to rebuilt it.. I ordered rings and bearings for it, the problems lies at the oil ring is too big to fit the groove...the rings I got are sealed power E-251x
"standard size rings for every 302 that shows up on autozone, O'riellys parts?"

well I was thinking right cus i just found several sites that says E7TE means 87 truck engine.. I'm on the right track but that don't explain why my piston rings don't fit or at least the oil rings don't fit.

I had the same problem with my 89. Turns out that you have metric piston rings, I got mine thru Advanced Auto Parts.

Ford used a few different sizes, the metric rings are more expensive Federal Mogul/Sealed Power PT# E458K

yea, the rings are $112, I was just planning on keeping it cheap. I really wanted to go all the way and its a roller cam, but $$ is tight right now. I think I will just save up the $$ and do it right and get a good bottom end buy some aluminum heads, and Intake and have them ported/matched, isn't nothing better than to hear a responsive high revving small block!! thanks for the help.
